ARTIST bio.
Crystal Latimer is a contemporary artist, raised outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, whose vibrant and intricate works explore the intersection of cultural symbolism, power, and femininity. She earned her BFA from Slippery Rock University, followed by an MA and MFA from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Latimer’s work has been exhibited across the United States and abroad, with solo and group shows at venues including Art Miami (Basel Art Week), Paradigm Gallery (Philadelphia), Visions West Contemporary (Colorado and Montana), Pittsburgh International Airport, Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, Chautauqua Institution, and George Washington University, among others. Internationally, she has exhibited at the Collect Art Fair (Somerset House, London), London Art Fair and La Galleria Pall Mall (London), and was shortlisted for the Young Masters Art Prize with Cynthia Corbett Gallery. Her work is held in both public and private collections, including those of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, PNC Corporate, the Benter Foundation, and the Wyndham Tryp Hotel.
In 2014, Latimer completed an artist residency at Joaquin Chaverri Fabrica de Carretas in Sarchí, Costa Rica, a formative experience that deepened her engagement with color, craftsmanship, and cultural symbolism. Her work has been featured in publications such as The Western Home Journal, Create!, Pikchur, Art Maze, Ruminate, and Fresh Paint Magazine.
She is currently represented by Paradigm Gallery (Philadelphia PA) and Visions West Contemporary (Denver CO | Livingston, Bozeman MT).
